Wins $50,000 Taxes-Paid Prize on Stacks of Cash Scratch-Off
A stop between snow storms resulted in a flurry of excitement for a Nottingham man. The 37-year-old paid a visit to his favorite Lottery retailer on Tuesday, where he bought five dollars worth of Mega Millions tickets and one Stacks of Cash scratch-off. Upon returning home, the construction worker threw his Lottery purchases on an end table and went about his business. It wasn’t until Thursday, when he was doing some house cleaning, that he remembered to scratch his ticket.
“I just kept double checking it,” said the calm winner when asked what his reaction was to discovering he’d just won $50,000 taxes paid. “I tried to call my Dad and sister to tell them, but couldn’t get in touch with anyone.”
Since his phone calls didn’t work, he hopped in his truck and drove to his parents to share his news. “My Dad was shoveling snow when I pulled up,” said the winner. “I told him, ‘You’ve gotta come in the house.’” His father, who accompanied the winner to Lottery Headquarters, said “This better be good.”
Intending to pay bills with his prize money, the winner said, “This is like a fresh start.”
The winning ticket was purchased at the Jack’s Fine Foods, located at 4519 Kenwood Ave. in Baltimore.
