Top-prize-winning ticket sold in New York delivers prize of $1,000 a day for life
There is a new winner of $1,000 a day for life in New York City, courtesy of the Feb. 25 Cash4Life drawing. The lucky player will have his or her choice of $1,000 a day for life, paid in annual installments of $365,000, or a one-time cash payment of $7 million.
While there was no top-tier winner in Maryland, the drawing produced 23,574 winners in the state, including five people who won $2,500 prizes by matching four of the five white balls plus the green Cash Ball. Three tickets sold in Maryland matched four of the white balls and are worth $500. There were also 130 $100 winners in Maryland who matched three white balls plus the Cash Ball. The five white balls were 2, 16, 19, 33, 39, and the Cash Ball number was 3.
Maryland became the sixth state to join Cash4Life in January and tickets are available at nearly 4,600 Maryland Lottery retailers. Tickets are $2 for each line of six numbers. Drawings are held Mondays and Thursdays at 9 p.m. and can be viewed live on mdlottery.com. The cutoff time for purchasing tickets on drawing nights is 8:45 p.m.
In addition to Maryland and New York, Cash4Life is played in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Tennessee. The game began in June 2014, and the Feb. 25 drawing marked the 13th time that a top-tier-winning ticket was sold. There have also been 21 second-tier winners who have the option of $1,000 a week for life, paid in annual installments of $52,000, or a one-time payment of $1 million. Six other prize levels range from $2 to $2,500. The overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 8.
