He or she will receive $1,000 a day for life paid in annual installments of $365,000. The winner may also opt for a one-time cash payment of $7 million (before taxes). “Congratulations to our lucky winner and to the state of Maryland,” said Gordon Medenica, director of Maryland Lottery and Gaming. “We’re looking forward to meeting the player who won this life-changing prize.”

In May 2016, a Frederick County Public Schools employee claimed a $1,000 a day Cash4Life prize, choosing the $7 million cash option.

The winner has 182 days from the date of the drawing to claim the prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. Lottery officials strongly encourage the player to sign the back of the ticket immediately and keep it in a safe location until claiming the prize. Our top-prize winner wasn’t the only happy Cash4Life player in the Aug. 7 drawing, which saw one $2,500 Maryland winner and a total of 8,587 Maryland winners of prizes of $2 and up.
