Cecil County Hunter Bags a Big Scratch-off Prize

Early-morning purchase delivers $100,000 win

On the way home from an early-morning hunting outing on Nov. 23, a Cecil County man and his son stopped at Talegate Market in Millington for some breakfast. Along with serving tasty biscuits, bacon and coffee, the store is also a Lottery retailer – a fact that turned what had been a fun weekend morning into one for the ages.

“I pick up tickets all the time,” the 55 year-old husband and father reported.  “So when we saw that the market sold scratch-offs, we each got one.”

The two decided to play the $10 Cash Club game and to keep buying until one of them found a winner. And when that happened, it was a $100,000 top prize.

“We’d each gone through a couple of tickets when I scratched the $100,000 winner,” the Cecil County resident said. “I wasn’t sure it was real until I ran it through the scanner. I almost fell over.”

When he shared his news he got hugs from everyone – his son, the store clerk, and even a fellow customer. Paying bills, being debt-free this holiday season and making Christmas extra special for his family top the lucky winner’s to-do list.

Cash Club made its debut on Nov. 18 and has already two of its 10 $100,000 top prizes has been claimed. But that still leaves eight more waiting to be found, along with 27 second-tier prizes of $10,000 and thousands of additional prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.

The management of Talegate Market at 198 Sassafras Street in Millington is a winner as well. The store will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the top-prize winner.
