Wins $10,000 and $1,000 playing $100,000 Gold Rush scratch-off
What are the odds of winning two big prizes on back-to-back Maryland Lottery scratch-offs? The chances are slim, but it happened to an Elkton woman who confessed that she hardly ever plays the Lottery’s instant ticket games.
The 67-year-old said she had just finished some grocery shopping and visited the Stop-N-Go at 1 East Cecil Avenue in North East to get gas. While there, the lucky player decided to purchase two $100,000 Gold Rush scratch-offs. “I just picked two tickets, it didn’t even matter what game,” she said.
The cashier handed her the popular $10 scratch-offs and the Cecil County player put them in her purse and went home. Eventually, she sat down at the kitchen table to play her games. The first instant ticket she scratched revealed a 20x symbol above a $500 prize.
“I’m normally good at math,” she said, “but I just couldn’t figure this out.” When the lucky player realized she’d won $10,000, she proceeded to scratch the next instant ticket and got another surprise! “This game showed a bunch of coin symbols above many different amounts,” she said. “I just could not believe it!” She had scratched a $1,000 winner!
The very lucky woman plans to pay a few bills with her winnings, treat herself to something nice and save the rest.
There are still plenty of big prizes on the $100,000 Gold Rush game including three $100,000 top prizes, one $20,000 prize and eight more $10,000 prizes.
