$50,000 Win with Money Surplus Scratch-Off
Christopher Merrill was enjoying a regular day; he visited his beloved granddaughter, stopped at a favorite convenience store, bought Lottery tickets and went home. He did one thing out of the ordinary this time – he chose a different scratch-off. “I usually buy the crossword tickets” he said, “I decided to go with something different.”
The father-of-three and doting grandfather (he has his granddaughter’s name tattooed over his heart) is a long-time Maryland Lottery player and “couldn’t believe” that he’d won. He kept looking at the ticket and shaking his head until he was finally convinced that the ticket was actually a top-prize winner.
Merrill, a long-time heavy equipment operator for Baltimore City and self-admitted family man, has been married for 28 years and said that his wife is “still in shock.” He plans to help finance an annual family trip to the beach this summer, get a new living room set for his home and may have a surprise or two in store for the family.
Merrill bought the winning ticket at Chestnut Pharmacy at 801 W. 36th Street in Hampden.
