Wins $30,000 on Fruit Twist Crossword scratch-off

Michael Dietrich had a hankering for chicken on Saturday. So, he stopped at a local Royal Farms store where he purchased some of their famous fried chicken and decided to get some “Fruit” to go with it – a Fruit Twist Crossword scratch-off.  The 25-year-old took the ticket, along with two others he purchased, to his car and proceeded to scratch them. He quickly discovered that he was $30,000 richer. “I couldn’t believe it at first,” said the IT salesman. “I drove to the nearby Safeway to double check that it was a winner and it was.”

After he had calmed down, he called his parents with the good news and the three of them immediately drove to Lottery headquarters only to find that the offices were closed for the weekend.  “I left the ticket at my parent’s house for safekeeping,” said Michael.  Yesterday morning, the happy winner picked up his valuable ticket and proceeded once again to Lottery Headquarters.  This time his trip proved “fruitful” as he claimed his $30,000 Fruit Twist Crossword prize. Although delighted with his win, Michael jokingly referred to what he would have done had he won the record-breaking Mega Millions jackpot two weeks ago. “I’d go swimming with the great white sharks in Cape Town, South Africa,” said Michael.  “And, pay off my parent’s house.”

With his current windfall, Michael intends to invest, share with family and spend some in Las Vegas where he will soon be headed to a bachelor party.  His winning ticket was purchased at Royal Farms, located at 1200 Ponca Street in Baltimore.
