A 53-year-old Harford County woman was out with family members, celebrating her oldest daughter’s birthday last Friday morning, when good luck came knocking with a $10,000 Keno prize.
The mother and her two daughters wanted to play games at Hollywood Casino Perryville before work, but her oldest daughter could not get in because she left her ID at home. The trio then turned their sights to Keno.
“I thought, I haven’t played Keno in years,” said the Havre de Grace woman. “And, because we were pressed for time, we had to think quickly of where to go.”
They decided on Jumbo Jimmy’s Crab Shack in Port Deposit for some quick Keno play. The lucky lady first played five random games with the Bonus multiplier and won $10. Then, the mother of four decided to play again and borrowed $6 from the birthday girl to do so.
“I figured I might as well play all my kids’ birthdays,” she said, smiling. “I played $6 on a 6 spot ticket with the Super Bonus.”
The shocked Keno player saw her numbers appear, one by one. “I think I have all of those numbers,” she said to herself. The lucky $10,000 winner was correct! She initially thought her prize was much less until she scanned her ticket and saw the true amount. To be very certain, the winner had the cashier check the ticket.
The fortunate player then called her husband to share the news and proceeded to enjoy a normal weekend. She did return to her lucky Lottery retailer for dinner and tipped the bartender for selling her the winning ticket.
She and her husband claimed the Keno prize on Monday. The happy player plans to share some of her winnings with her four children and her granddaughter and will save the rest.
Jumbo Jimmy’s Crab Shack is also celebrating. For selling a winning Keno ticket of $10,000 or more, the Port Deposit business located at 1065 Bainbridge Road earns a bonus of $100 from the Lottery. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize.
