Churchville Man Strikes Gold with Top-Prize Winning Scratch-off

Harford County fan wins $50,000 on new Gold Rush X20 game

The Maryland Lottery’s Gold Rush family of games that arrived in stores this week has players across the state scratching for a big win. A Churchville man won top honors by discovering the first $50,000 prize on the Gold Rush X20 scratch-off.

He found his Lottery luck on Wednesday, which was a cool sunny day and perfect for getting work done around the house. After mowing the lawn, he decided a cold refreshing soda would hit the spot. The 47-year-old jumped into his car and headed to his local High’s convenience store. He got in line with his soda and spotted scratch-offs at the counter. Hit with a feeling that he should purchase an instant ticket, the Harford County resident picked a $5 game at random and returned to his car with the soda and scratch-off.

Once in the car, he decided to scratch the Gold Rush X20 game. Filled with excitement, the loyal player scratched his way to his top-prize win. He found the Gold Bar image instantly, good for 20x the prize shown ($1,000). Next, he uncovered an additional $30,000 in $5,000 matches for a grand total of $50,000!

The happy player says this is his biggest win ever! He plans to use the prize to pay bills and will save the rest for future endeavors. Because the scratch-off carried a $50,000 top prize, High’s #34 at 2906 Churchville Road in Churchville earns a $500 bonus from the Lottery.

There are five instant tickets in the Gold Rush family of games. Players can choose from the $1 Gold Rush X5, $2 Gold Rush X10, $5 Gold Rush X20, $10 Gold Rush X50 and $20 Gold Rush X100 scratch-offs. Strike gold with any of these fun games and take home top prizes of $1,000 to $1 million!
