A lucky Prince George’s County man, along with his wife, came to Lottery headquarters today to claim the most recent Multi-Match prize. The Clinton resident chose the numbers 04, 05, 08, 18, 30 and 38, combining birth dates and an anniversary, for the $500,000 win. This drawing, which took place on Monday, was the second time in as many drawings that the jackpot was hit. Last Thursday’s $2.8 million jackpot was claimed by a Laurel man.
The 73-year-old Clinton winner learned that he had won when he called the Lottery’s winning numbers line. He was in for quite a surprise when he listened to the winning numbers. “I didn’t believe it. I had to call back twice,” said the winner. He celebrated the news by running upstairs to wake his wife. “You always told me to wake you if I had good news,” he said.
The couple, who celebrated their 37th anniversary this year, has been playing those lucky numbers for almost six years. They say they plan to use their winnings to make some home improvements and to help their family. The winning ticket was purchased at Tuckers Liquor on Old Alexandria Ferry Rd. in Clinton.
