Claims $14,021 prize after placing Superfecta bet
A 45-year-old firefighter from Prince George’s County was bursting with enthusiasm after claiming a $14,021 Racetrax prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
The lucky man placed a Superfecta wager at Tucker’s Liquors in Clinton on Sept. 1 and picked horses No. 6, 5, 1 and 12 to complete the race in that exact order. “I had only purchased five games,” he said. “I was shocked to see that the first ticket I bought was the winning one.”
The loyal player, who has fought fires in the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. area for over 26 years, said he likes playing Racetrax because he always seems to win.
“I’m just so overjoyed because now I can pay off my 2006 Mercedes,” said the Clinton resident. In addition to paying off his car loan, the happy winner said he’d also put some of the prize in his savings account and give some to his mother.
For selling a winning Racetrax ticket of $10,000 or more, the lucky retailer shares in the fun. The Lottery will give Tucker’s Liquors located at 8100 Old Alexandria Ferry Road in Clinton a $140.21 bonus.
