Wins $30,000 on Cash Lines Scratch-off Ticket
It was a busier than usual shopping season, but the deals were so good that Nancy Bowers decided to head out to find a winter coat last week. While she knew she would face a throng of Christmas shoppers, she decided to make the trip anyway. While she was out, Bowers took a few small winning Lottery tickets to cash in at her local Lottery retailer. The Smithsburg woman cashed her tickets, bought a few more, got a great new coat and came home $30,000 richer.
Bowers, a mother-of-one and grandmother-of-five, put the tickets in her car, without scratching them, and went into the mall without thinking of them for a while. “I can’t believe I so casually left them in the car,” she laughed. “If someone had broken in, it would have been their lucky day!” She waited until she got home and had a chance to sit down before she and her husband Dennis scratched the tickets. When Dennis said they won $30,000, she called him a liar. “I’ve never called him a liar in the 18 years we’ve been married!” She apologized after seeing it for herself.
The happy couple, both retirees, is looking forward to some practical investments with the money: new washer and dryer, new windows in their home and other domestic expenditures. They are already excitedly planning a trip out West to see the Grand Canyon in the spring. The winning ticket was sold at Cavetown Liquors, located at 11905 Mapleville Rd. in Cavetown.
