Forest Hill resident captures a top prize in 10x Cash scratch-off game
After a long day at work, a Forest Hill man made a quick stop for a cup of coffee. He ended up with that and $10,000.
The 59-year-old contractor from Harford County had ventured into Royal Farms #66 at 9600 Pulaski Highway in Baltimore for a little pick-me-up. He also decided to buy a couple of Maryland Lottery 10x Cash scratch-off tickets.
“I saw that there were only two tickets left so I decided I’d hurry up and grab them before anyone else did,” he said. “The first ticket I scratched, I didn’t win anything. Then as I began scratching the other ticket, it looked like I wasn’t going to win anything on that ticket, either.”
When he finished scratching the last line on that second ticket, he quickly realized that his luck had changed.
“It was hard to believe that I was holding a $10,000 winning ticket in my hands,” he said, after claiming one of the top prizes in the 10x Cash game.
Although scratch-off tickets are his favorite, he never imagined that he’d win such a large prize. He added that the closest he’d ever gotten to winning that much money was a few years ago when a Trifecta bet in the Racetrax game earned him $6,500.
Our winner said 10x Cash is his favorite scratch-off because of the large number of $10,000 top prizes. 10X Cash tickets went on sale March 23, and the game started with 85 $10,000 prizes – 75 of which have not yet been claimed. There also are 42 $1,000 prizes still available.
“It certainly makes odds better for the player,” he said.
The lucky winner said that since most of his bills are paid, he plans to enjoy a vacation to Germany with his prize.
