Plans air conditioning repair with prize from May 4 drawing
A Columbia homemaker who plays Bonus Match 5 every week endured a sweltering evening on Monday, May 4. Daytime temperatures had hit the 80s and her air conditioner was on the fritz.
When the married mother of one woke up the next day and checked the winning Bonus Match 5 numbers, she realized she could now easily afford an air conditioner repair. The Howard County woman won the game’s $50,000 top prize!
“I haven’t told my husband yet,” she said, smiling. The couple had followed their morning routine, with her husband heading off to work before she checked the winning numbers. She had just bought her week’s worth of Bonus Match 5 games on May 4 at Koko’s Mini Mart in Columbia. As the 60-year-old scanned her ticket, she saw her Quick Pick numbers matched the winning numbers in the May 4 drawing.
“I said, ‘No! I don’t believe this,’ ” the lucky woman said. “I looked at the ticket seven or eight times and I set it down and looked at it again.”
The prize will also help with college expenses for their daughter, she said. Also benefiting from the win is the Howard County retailer. Koko’s Mini Mart at 7060 Oakland Hills Road #G in Columbia will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the top-prize ticket.
