Columbia Man Chillin’ with $100,000 Winter Ice Multiplier Prize

Dallas Cowboys fan “Tony Romo” won $100,000 playing the $10 Winter Ice Multiplier scratch-off.

Finds big win on Lottery’s $10 holiday scratch-off

Choosing a purple holiday scratch-off adorned with a shimmering snowflake triggered a blizzard of winning for a Columbia man.

The $10 Winter Ice Multiplier  scratch-off he purchased while picking up groceries at Giant #143 in Ellicott City gave the 47-year-old a $100,000 top-prize win. The restaurant and retail manager, who is a Dallas Cowboys fan, selected the pseudonym “Tony Romo” for his Lottery publicity.

“Tony Romo” said slight changes in his routine led to his Lottery luck. The grocery trip took the loyal scratch-off player to an out-of-the-way store, where he used his change to purchase the scratch-off from an in-store vending machine.

When he returned home, “Tony Romo” scratched off the instant ticket with his family. They shared the excitement when one of the winning numbers matched a game number, revealing a truly unbelievable prize.

The lucky dad said he hadn’t slept a wink after his big win. He arrived with his family at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore the next day to confirm his good fortune and claim his prize.

“Tony Romo” said the winnings will go to pay off bills from a recent move. Also sharing in the blizzard of green is the lucky Lottery retailer. The grocery located at 4715 Dorsey Hall Drive in Ellicott City earns a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize scratch-off in the game.

Winter Ice Multiplier is packed with unclaimed prizes, including six more $100,000 top prizes, 24 $10,000 prizes and thousands of others ranging from $10 to $1,000. The game is one of five holiday scratch-offs launched by the Lottery last month.

All non-winning holiday scratch-offs are eligible for entry into the Holiday Cash & Dash second-chance promotion running through Jan. 16.
