Columbia Man Scratches His Way to $10,000 Prize

Million Dollar Spectacular ticket pays off big

222-Million-Dollar-Spectacular-ITVMA 44-year-old Columbia man had just finished a visit with friends on Feb. 4 when his day changed for the better. He stopped at the Shell All Saints at 9280 All Saints Road in Laurel for a soda. While he was in the store, he decided to play some scratch-offs and the wins just kept on coming.

The U.S. Army veteran first won $100 on a $5 scratch-off game and then purchased two $20 scratch-offs, including a Million Dollar Spectacular ticket. He won $50 on the first ticket and then began scratching the second one.

“I saw that all the numbers matched, but I really thought it was only $500 at first,” he said. “Then I realized it was $10,000.”

The father of two immediately put the winning ticket in his pocket and headed home, but not before calling his friends and stopping back at their house to share the news.

“I told them to come open the door, so I could show them something,” he said. “After checking the ticket, they were so excited for me.”

The lucky player has not yet shared the news with his family, but plans to tell his wife in a special way. He said his wife would like to take a cruise for her birthday, and he will share the news that he won $10,000 while surprising her with cruise tickets to Bermuda. He also plans to get some work done on his newly purchased truck.

The Million Dollar Spectacular ticket launched in December, and two of its $1 million top prizes are still waiting to be claimed. The ticket also has five available $50,000 prizes and 23 more $10,000 prizes.
