Places lucky Trifecta Box bet
Nurse Eunice Dube of Columbia charted her course to a $15,439 Racetrax win by stopping at Columbia Auto Care & Car Wash after work to play a few rounds of the popular Maryland Lottery game.
“When I got off, I was tired,” she said. “All I wanted to do is relax and play Racetrax before I headed home for the day. It was a long work day for me.”
The 63-year-old, who has worked as a nurse for nearly 42 years, has played Racetrax for about five years. “I’ve been picking the same horses, too, which are 10, 11 and 12, as long as I’ve been playing Racetrax,” she said.
Eunice usually stays to watch the actual races on the store monitor. On her lucky day, however, the tired Howard County resident bought her Racetrax tickets and went home to sleep. One ticket carried a Trifecta Box bet that horses 10, 11 and 12 would finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd in any order. They did!
“When I woke up the next morning and went to check my tickets, I got the thrill of my life,” she said. “To my shock, it said that I won $15,439.50. All I could say to myself was OMG!”
Eunice had prayed for a blessing like this Lottery win because she needs money to pay her college tuition. “I was so worried that I wasn’t going to have the money to go and I’m so close to completing my master’s degree,” she said.
The lucky player is no stranger to Maryland Lottery wins. Eunice won a trip for two to Las Vegas after entering her name into a second-chance contest through My Lottery Rewards. In addition to paying her college tuition with her prize, the happy winner plans to take a trip to South Africa and pay a few bills. She’ll put the rest into savings.
The Lottery retailer that sold her the winning Racetrax ticket shares in the fun. Columbia Auto Car & Car Wash located at 10611 Little Patuxent Parkway in Columbia will receive a $154.39 bonus for selling a winning Racetrax ticket of $10,000 or mor
