Columbia Woman Wins $50,000 on Green and Gold Scratch-Off

Shannon Scott - Green and GoldShannon Scott struck gold and took home the green, winning the $50,000 top prize on the Green and Gold scratch-off. The 24-year-old has become a big fan of Lottery games because of her boyfriend who routinely buys Lottery tickets on Friday nights. “We just love playing scratch-offs and the Mega Millions game” she said smiling broadly.

Friday evening her boyfriend of five years bought four different scratch-offs at Lark Brown Liquors. He returned home with his purchases and gave Shannon two of the tickets. Her boyfriend didn’t have any luck with his scratch-offs and Shannon’s first ticket didn’t reveal a win. But, as Shannon scratched the last remaining ticket, her boyfriend noticed a surprised look on her face.

“I’m not sure, but I think we just won $50, 000,” said Shannon as she handed the ticket to her boyfriend to check. They then immediately took the ticket back to the store to confirm their win. The cashier told her to go to Lottery Headquarters because it was such a large amount.

Shannon and her boyfriend have a three-year-old and five-year-old son. She is currently a first-year-student at Howard Community College studying to be a radiology technician. Shannon also works as a waitress at a Mexican restaurant, where she works hard to afford her costly text books for school. Now able to afford those books, Shannon and her boyfriend also plan to pay off some credit card bills, possibly buy a car and put away some money for their children’s college fund.

The winning ticket was purchased at Lark Brown Liquors, located at 6590-A Waterloo Rd. in Elkridge.
