Commercial Diver Surfaces with Huge Lottery Haul

New Jersey man wins $100,000 playing Bingo Gold game

276-Bingo-Gold-ITVMA commercial diver from New Jersey decided to go with the flow when he got the urge to play a Maryland Lottery scratch-off this weekend. The result – he discovered a $100,000 treasure trove!

The 26-year-old was en route to his girlfriend’s house in Laurel when he stopped at a nearby 7-Eleven to rent a movie. While there, he felt the urge to play a scratch-off. His Saturday night plans, which included accompanying his girlfriend to a nearby bingo parlor, played a key role in his lucky selection of a $10 Bingo Gold scratch-off.

“When I looked at the tickets the store had available, I noticed the bingo ticket right away,” he said. “It seemed like the right choice.”

Before leaving the house that night, the Long Branch resident scratched off his Bingo Gold game and was shocked. “I couldn’t believe it! I must have studied it for 10 minutes before I called in my girlfriend,” he said. Still doubting what he was seeing, even after his girlfriend pronounced the top-prize win was real, the lucky player returned to the Lottery retailer for confirmation.

“$100,000? Are you kidding? Until that moment, I was sure it was a misprint,” he said.

The excited couple plans to use their Bingo Gold prize to buy a much-needed family vehicle. A close second in their plans is travel – upgrading a vacation to Mexico they had already planned and maybe adding a cruise next summer.

“This came at a great time for us,” he said. “We couldn’t be happier.”

He claimed the second of six $100,000 top prizes on the Bingo Gold game. Fourteen of the game’s $10,000 second-tier prizes also are unclaimed along with thousands of prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000. The couple’s lucky Lottery retailer is 7-Eleven #32390 at 3393 Laurel-Fort Meade Road in Laurel. The Anne Arundel County store will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize ticket in the game.
