Concrete Laborer Rocked by $50,000 Nutcracker Cash Doubler Prize Windfall

Montgomery County couple claims second top prize on $5 scratch-off

175-Nutcracker-Cash-Doubler-ITVMA laborer for a concrete company and his wife were still absorbing the reality of their recent scratch-off win this week. The 65 year-old man and his wife, who are regular players, won $50,000 on a $5 Nutcracker Cash Doubler scratch-off, while playing a few games of Keno.

The couple purchased the holiday-themed ticket, and while waiting for the next Keno game he scratched it, revealing three ‘pinecone’ emblems next to a $50,000 top-prize. After revealing the prize the lucky couple could not believe their luck. After all their lottery play, they had never won a large prize until this week.

When asked how finding such a large prize felt, the couple was overcome with emotions. “We are very happy, but also very emotional,” said the lucky lady. “Sometimes you have days when you feel very lucky – This was ours,” she explained.

The couple explained the source of their emotions stems from leaving their homeland of El Salvador many years ago. When they emigrated they left family behind, including the four children that they have not seen for nearly 14 years. They say they plan to use the prize to take the long awaited trip and reunite with their family.

Village Beer and Wine at 19710 Fisher Avenue in Poolesville is the lucky retailer location that sold the winning ticket.
