Lucky pair pocket $50,000 top prize from Sept. 4 drawing
A Hagerstown couple just plated a whopper of a Maryland Lottery prize! They hooked a $50,000 winning Bonus Match 5 ticket while dining at their favorite local lunch counter and Lottery spot.
The hard-working pair follows a strict $15-per-week budget for Lottery fun. They kick off their Lottery play each week with a single $1 Bonus Match 5 ticket purchase. On Aug. 30, the mansion farm maintenance worker purchased the winning ticket while he and his wife dined at AC&T #130 in Hagerstown. The couple enjoy the Lottery retailer’s baked fish entrée and listening to stories of the open road from the truckers who frequent the lunch counter.
The Washington County couple didn’t know about their Lottery luck until a week later when the husband checked the ticket against a list of winning numbers. When he discovered they were top-prize winners, he hurried home and hid the Bonus Match 5 ticket in his freezer!
The couple plans to use the winnings to bolster their savings. The husband said he will continue to do the things he loves: working, spending time with his wife and with his dogs.
AC&T is also a winner. For selling a top-prize ticket in the Bonus Match 5 game, the Hagerstown retailer located at 11564 Hopewell Road received a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
