A grocery store cashier who treats himself to a Maryland Lottery scratch-off every “once in a while” on the way home from work sure picked the right time and the right ticket. His selection of the Lottery’s Funky 5s scratch-off was $55,555 worth of a good decision.
“I kept looking at it, staring at the ticket because there was no way what I was seeing could be real,” said the 33-year-old. The Crofton man waited until he arrived home to scratch off his $5 ticket. “I asked my sister to look at it, to see if she was seeing the same thing I was.” She confirmed the scratch-off win, which kicked off an exciting, sleepless night for the entire family.
Our winner plans to share his prize with his family and with a charity that helped people he knows. The Anne Arundel County man, who has also considered opening his own business, said his Funky 5s winnings will help him move forward more quickly with those plans.
