Great-great-grandmother found luck playing Classic Crossword game
A Baltimore great-great-grandmother of three who favors Maryland Lottery crossword scratch-offs just found her second $10,000-winning instant ticket in a decade of play.
The 80-year-old winner and her daughter arrived at Lottery headquarters to claim the prize on a Classic Crossword scratch-off. The loyal player’s husband, who is disabled, didn’t make the trip to headquarters but played a role in the win, she said. The retiree buys instant tickets and sits with her husband as he scratches them off, she said. “It gives him something to do.”
Lottery luck was waiting for the great-grandmother of 35 at Bull Robinson Liquors, which is located at 2736 Greenmount Avenue in Baltimore. She bought four of the $5 Classic Crossword instant tickets and took them home, joining her husband as he scratched them. All four tickets were winners! Her husband revealed the big $10,000 winner on the second scratch-off and they won a total of $35 on the other three games, she said.
The happy mother of six and grandmother of 14 plans to fix the dining room and living room floors with the prize. She said she hopes to return soon to the Winners’ Lounge at Lottery headquarters to claim her next big prize!
