D.C. Man Finds Big Money Playing Maryland’s Big Money Maker

Takes home game’s $100,000 top prize

A trip across state lines to visit a friend in Maryland led to a $100,000 top-prize scratch-off win for a Washington, D.C. resident. The scratch-off fan’s luck came from the $10 Big Money Maker game.

The Washington, D.C. government employee was on his way home from his visit when he stopped at 7-Eleven #20204 located at 5401 Silver Hill Road in District Heights. The 43-year-old purchased five scratch-offs, including the Big Money Maker game. The lucky player scratched the prize check area on the games and scanned each one to see if any were winners. He stopped in his tracks when the second of his scratch-off games showed a $100,000 win, which is the top prize on the $10 instant ticket.

“When I saw that message, I left immediately,” he said.

When he made it home, he scratched off the rest of the instant ticket to see how he won his big bucks. Excited, the single dad of five kids put his winning scratch-off away and managed to have a normal weekend. He only shared his news with one person.

The first thing on the winner’s agenda Monday morning was to claim his big prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. He plans to use the prize to pay bills and take a much-needed vacation.

Also celebrating is the 7-Eleven store that sold the scratch-off. The Prince George’s County business earns a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling a $100,000 top-prize winning scratch-off. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize.

There are still big prizes to be won on the Big Money Maker game. Players can search for three $100,000 top prizes, 21 $10,000 prizes and hundreds of thousands of prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.
