Damascus Woman Continues Lucky Streak with Racetrax Prize

Wins $13,941 on Superfecta Box wager

A Montgomery County woman who won her first big prize a few months ago at a casino picked up the pace with $13,941 won on the Maryland Lottery’s Racetrax game.

Over the past six months, the 70-year-old grandmother of seven has won $2,000, $6,400 and a cruise during her visits to local casinos. She and her husband decided to try their luck with Racetrax last week when they were dining at Atlantic Grille in Frederick with their granddaughter.

“We randomly selected horses on the playslip and watched the races on the monitor,” she said. “When we saw our horses came in, we got very excited and started celebrating.

The lucky woman played a Superfecta Box wager, using the horses numbered 6, 7, 10 and 11, for a total of 10 races. She couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw the horses come in during the third race on her ticket.

“We had to double check the ticket,” the happy woman said.

“And then, we triple checked it,” her husband added with a smile.

The couple, married for 52 years, will use some of the winnings as spending money on their upcoming cruise. In addition, the Damascus duo will pay some bills and spoil their kids and grandkids at Christmas.

Atlantic Grille, located at 3531 John Simmons Street in Frederick, will receive a $139 bonus from the Lottery for selling a winning Racetrax ticket over $10,000.
