Hyattsville resident Cheryl McIntyre says she has been a long-time player of the Lottery’s Bonus Match 5 game. Last week, playing her special number combination, the 58-year-old won the $50,000 top prize.
She discovered the win when her daughter checked her tickets using a Lottery winning numbers ‘widget’ on her satellite television service. “She started reading the numbers and I thought she was reading from my ticket. I knew those numbers well,” said McIntyre. The numbers she had played for some time were derived from the birthdates and birth year of her parents. “It meant a lot to me because my mother’s birthday was just days before,” she said.

McIntyre said that the winnings would help with bills, but may also help to continue a family tradition. Due to rising costs, the McIntyres weren’t sure they would be taking their annual trip to Disney World, a tradition they have kept since the 1990’s. The winning ticket was purchased at 4 Way Stop Market on 40th Avenue in Hyattsville.
