Dream Leads to Big Win For Annapolis Woman

Sarah Bird - Bonus Match 5

Annapolis resident Sarah Bird shows off her “dream” win.

Wins $50,000 Playing Bonus Match 5

Sarah Bird of Annapolis plays the Lottery’s Bonus Mach 5 every week.  While she enjoys playing the game, Bird was originally turned onto it after her late grandmother told her to in a dream.  While some may find her story a little spooky, Bird finds it very lucrative and has no regrets, especially since she was guided to a $50,000 Bonus Match 5 top prize.

“I moved to Maryland to care for my grandmother who was in failing health,” she told Lottery officials. “After she passed, I had a dream where she told me to ‘play the 5.’  I had no idea what it meant until I realized that the Lottery had a game with “5” in its name. I put two and two together.”  Two and two, in this case, equaled $50,000.

Bird, a manager of an Annapolis car service, played as often as she could, and always checked the winning numbers on the lottery’s webpage.  In early January, when she compared her Bonus Match 5 tickets to the listed winning numbers, she noticed some matches, and then a few more.  “I started screaming.  I called my aunt and scared the heck out of her.  She thought something terrible had happened.”

Bird acknowledged that the $50,000 win couldn’t have come at a better time.  She plans to take care of some bills and help her family.  The winning ticket was purchased at the 7-11 convenience store at 980 Bay Ridge road in Annapolis.
