Driver Detours to Big Win On Treasure Island Scratch-Off

Westminster’s Patrick Dzikowski discovered a $30,000 top-prize win on a Treasure Island scratch-off.

Reveals game’s $30,000 top prize

Car enthusiast Patrick Dzikowski of Westminster and his girlfriend were driving to a car meet when Lottery luck rewarded his impulsive decision to make a brief detour.

The 28-year-old stopped at 7-Eleven #24347 in Westminster to grab a few instant tickets and got right back on the road. Little did he know a Treasure Island scratch-off in his hand was loaded with $30,000 worth of buried treasure!

“When we got home from a night of looking at cars, I remember lying restless in bed around 1:30 a.m. and telling myself not to forget to scratch my Treasure Island scratch-off tickets I had gotten earlier,” he said. “On the second one I scratched, I noticed I had won big! Then I just started screaming and yelling, which woke up my girlfriend.”

The top-prize win in the $3 game will enable the Carroll County man to eliminate his debts. “This money definitely comes in handy,” he said. Patrick experienced a horrific automobile accident a few years back and most of his $30,000 prize will go to pay off hospital bills. Any money that remains will go toward a down payment on a house, he said.

“After being out of work from this accident, I was wondering where I was going to get the money to pay some of these hospital bills,” he said. “That’s why winning this money has definitely made me feel like 2017 is going to be my year!”

For selling the top-prize scratch-off in the game, the lucky 7-Eleven is also a winner. The Carroll County store located at 353 Baltimore Boulevard will receive a $300 bonus from the Lottery.

The Treasure Island scratch-off has four more $30,000 top prizes available and 15 $1,000 prizes, in addition to thousands of others ranging from $3 to $500.
