Dundalk World Traveler Finds Lottery Luck at Home

Claims $10,000 prize on Triple Green Crossword instant ticket

277-Triple-Green-Crossword-ITVM_P1-blueA nature enthusiast from Dundalk made one of the shorter trips he’s taken of late to pick up a $10,000 prize that his once-in-a-while Lottery hobby delivered over the weekend. The 77-year-old world traveler picked out the first $5 scratch-off he saw on Saturday night and the Triple Green Crossword game did not disappoint.

“I travel as often as I can, just to see different environments, places I’ve read about and seen on TV,” said the retired steamfitter. “It’s a whole different thing seeing it in person.” When he is home, the lucky winner sometimes visits North Point Liquors at 2307 North Point Boulevard in Dundalk because he admires the store’s wine selection. That’s where the urge to play a Lottery scratch-off struck and he selected his lucky game.

Taking his Triple Green Crossword ticket home to play it there, the Baltimore County resident was shocked to discover what looked to him like a $1,000 win. “It was more than I’d ever won.” A visit to his best friend to share his excitement over a $1,000 win ended up multiplying both his elation and his win. “It turns out that I’d read it wrong – I’d won $10,000! That was just impossible to believe.”

After two nights of little sleep, the winner was relieved to travel with his best friend to Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim his prize. “I went to South Africa and Brazil in the last couple of years,” he said, “and the only thing keeping me from traveling more often are these pesky bills. This win helps a lot.”

The Triple Green Crossword game debuted in June and still has one more unclaimed $50,000 top prize and two $10,000 prizes. Players can also try to win thousands of other prizes ranging from $5 to $1,000.
