Wins $500 for each O’s home run through Baseball Bucks second-chance promotion
Last night, while Baltimore Orioles fans were hooting and hollering during the game against the Phillies, one lucky Lottery player had even more reasons to celebrate. With every home run that flew over the fence, Kevin Hollis added $500 to his pocket. By the end of the game, the Orioles had broken their franchise record with eight home runs in one game and Kevin had broken his record of Lottery wins.
The 28-year-old, who works as a chef at the Tidewater Inn, learned he had been selected as a Maryland Lottery Baseball Bucks Contestant of the Game last month, after entering some non-winning Baseball Bucks scratch-offs into his My Lottery Rewards account. Just for being selected, he won $500. And, he would win an additional $500 for every Orioles home run hit during that game. In the end, he won $4,500.
“I was just hoping for one home run,” said a smiling Kevin. “When I sat down with my friend to watch the game and saw the lead-off hitter hit the ball out of the park, I couldn’t believe it. Then, they hit seven more. It was an incredible game.”
This has been an exciting year for Kevin. Last month, he won $500 on a $2 scratch-off just before learning he was the Contestant of the Game. He also found out that he was getting a promotion at work.
The timing of his win couldn’t have come at a better time. With part of his prize, Kevin plans on getting his dad a nice Father’s Day gift. In addition to that, he would like to save some money to use toward college classes and take a short trip to Ocean City.
As a special bonus, the retailer who sold this Baseball Bucks ticket to Kevin, High’s #46 in Easton, will receive $1,125.
The $5 Baseball Bucks scratch-off has two $50,000 prizes remaining. Non-winning tickets can be entered for the chance to be selected as a Contestant of the Game — one for every regular season O’s game, for a total of 162. The remaining three drawings will take place on July 14, August 11 and September 1. To enter the Baseball Bucks promotion and to learn more, visit mdlottery.com/baseball.
