Claims top prize on $50,000 Gold Rush game
A Mardela Springs man said it’s a rare day that he carries cash and that’s what is required to buy Maryland Lottery games. After leaving the hardware store, the Wicomico County resident had cash in hand and headed to Country Farm Convenience Store in Salisbury for some Lottery fun and games.
Once there, he selected the $50,000 Gold Rush scratch-off and sat down to enjoy his purchases. After scratching off four of the 20 instant tickets, he realized that he probably made the best short-term investment of his life.
“I was really excited about it,” the lucky winner said. The 47-year-old doesn’t play often, usually picking up scratch-offs around the holidays.
So far, he has shared the news with his two sons, his uncle and his wife of 22 years. Although at first she doubted his win, the happy woman became a believer after seeing him claim his prize at Lottery headquarters. The lucky man said he has no plans yet for his winnings.
Country Farm Convenience Store at 104 Gordy Road also benefits from selling the lucky ticket. The store receives a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning ticket. There are still four undiscovered top-prize $50,000 Gold Rush instant tickets along with thousands of other prize-winning tickets ranging from $5 to $5,000.
