Claims top prize on The Price is Right scratch-off
Receiving a $5 Maryland Lottery scratch-off as a gift just started the fun for a Kent County elementary school teacher, who discovered while playing The Price is Right instant ticket that it carried the game’s $50,000 top prize.
At first, the Chestertown resident thought the lucky scratch-off was a $5 winner. A second look at the instant ticket clarified that she actually won $50,000. Shock set in, as did a nervous reaction, she said. “I wanted to throw up!”
The 30-year-old later shared her great news with family members and co-workers. She and her husband of seven years were already saving money to buy a house and will put the prize toward that big-ticket purchase.
Her lucky scratch-off came from Shore Stop #239 at 100 Main Street in Stevensville. The Queen Anne’s County retailer will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the top-prize ticket in the game.
