Takes home top prize on Cash Word scratch-off
With her two “bodyguards” by her side, one lucky Easton resident traveled to Lottery headquarters to claim her $20,000. “It’s good to have someone come along with you for something like this,” she said. With her neighbor and friend by her side, this cleaning service employee crossed the bridge to claim a $20,000 Cash Word scratch-off prize.
Last Saturday, the 61-year-old decided to scratch her newly purchased ticket while sitting on her porch with her neighbor. “I scratched the ticket and figured I didn’t win,” she said. Then, her neighbor took a look at it, and told her it looked like a winning ticket. Still in disbelief, the lucky winner put the ticket away and didn’t think about it again until Tuesday evening when she took it to a local convenience store for confirmation.
Once at the store, the win was confirmed. A part-time employee of an Annapolis cleaning service, the grandmother-of-four was overjoyed with the news that she was $20,000 richer.
With the winnings, she plans to pay bills, fix her car and spend money on her grandkids. “I’m going to make it last,” she said with a smile. The winning ticket was purchased at Food Lion, located at 219 Marlboro Ave. in Easton.
