Out-of-state student won scratch-off prize while home
An out-of-state college student who treated himself to a Maryland Lottery scratch-off while home visiting family got a welcome pre-Thanksgiving treat – a $10,000 winning ticket!
The 19-year-old Economics major, who only occasionally plays Lottery scratch-offs, bought a $20 Double Dollar Fortune ticket at the Quick Save Mart at 524 Defense Highway in Annapolis. He scratched the ticket in his car and “got very excited,” he said, when he realized he was a $10,000 winner.
The Anne Arundel County resident kept the ticket safe until he returned home again in mid-December and claimed his prize. His selection of a winning ticket gave him a nice chunk of change to help pay his next college tuition bill. The lucky Annapolis man has kept his win a complete secret from everyone except his family.
The Double Dollar Fortune scratch-off has several top-prize tickets awaiting discovery at Lottery retailers. One $1 million prize remains along with one $50,000 winning ticket and two more $10,000 winners.
