$50,000 prize follows a $10,000 scratch-off win in March
A Frederick woman who works in the education field just chalked up a second major Maryland Lottery scratch-off win for 2014. Between a $10,000 prize in March and the $50,000 Double Dollar Fortune scratch-off win she just found, the happy player is enjoying her double win.
The mother of three was hoping for a winner when she bought the $20 Double Dollar Fortune tickets at the Safeway in Frederick. “I bought two of the tickets at the machine and the second one I scratched had the big win,” she said.
At first, all she saw was a symbol showing her prize was doubled. “I figured it may be worth $500 and put the ticket away to check in the car,” she explained. “Then, I saw $10,000 and knew it had to be worth more. People who walked by my car probably thought I was going crazy!”
For now, the lucky lady is keeping quiet about her win. “The only people I told were my kids,” she said. “Even they don’t know how much I won. They just know I had to come in to the Baltimore headquarters again to claim.”
Although she is still comprehending the size of her win, the woman has decided to spend some of the prize on a trip with her daughter, who is in high school. “We travel a lot, so I’m sure we’ll be taking a trip before school starts up again,” she said.
