Brenda Grier becomes the seventh Maryland Lottery player to win coveted top prize
If you are looking for Brenda Grier on a Sunday afternoon during football season over the next 20 years, look no further than M&T Bank Stadium. The Glen Burnie resident found out today that she was this year’s Ravens “Seats for 20 Years” winner. The once-in-a-lifetime prize includes two club-level tickets to every pre-season and regular-season game, along with parking.
“I can’t wait to share this prize with my grandchildren,” said the overjoyed grandmother-of-five. “They are going to be so excited.”
The avid Lottery player was one of the Ravens second-chance finalists who gathered at M&T Bank Stadium to find out if they had won the highly sought-after prize. All six were already winners, having received $10,000 just for being selected. The other finalists were: John Beall from Middletown (Frederick County); Sharon Christensen from Severn (Anne Arundel County); Kenneth Council from Edgewood (Harford County); Calvin Pierce from Waldorf (Charles County); and Darrell Reich from Takoma Park (Montgomery County).
Before this morning’s big announcement, finalists and their guests enjoyed a private tour of the stadium, snapping photos and grinning from ear to ear. With the overcast sky above and the football field below, the anxious group was then led outside to watch the Jumbotron, which would reveal the winner’s name. After seeing her name on the screen, 55-year-old Brenda jumped in the air, screamed and hugged the closest person she could find – Ken, a gracious finalist to her right. Brenda’s husband, Ronald, stood by and calmly watched his wife celebrate the moment.
For the seventh year in a row, the Lottery partnered with the Baltimore Ravens during the 2015 football season. Players entered non-winning Ravens scratch-offs into their My Lottery Rewards account. Once a ticket was submitted, entrants could select which prize category they wanted to enter, including “Seats for 20 Years”, Away Trip with the Team, Game Day Packages and cash.
The finalists were selected from more than 132,000 entries submitted for the “Seats for 20 Years” prize. Throughout the season, more than 432,000 entries were received for the entire second-chance contest.
Past winners of the “Seats for 20 Years” include Kim Feather from Pasadena; Dawn Brink from Stevensville; Vanessa Williams from Rosedale; Beth Bunch from Baltimore; Vernon Miller, Jr. from Bel Air; and Tuesday Johnson from Germantown.
