Elkridge Man Returns from Lottery’s Ravens Away Trip, Wins $100,000

Takes home Maximum Money top prize

Joshua Felsen may have had the best 48 hours of his life last week. He enjoyed a whirlwind weekend, traveling with the Baltimore Ravens to Green Bay on Nov. 19 as a Maryland Lottery second-chance winner, only to return home and purchase a $100,000 winning Maximum Money scratch-off.

Joshua was among 10 winners of the Ravens second-chance away-trip promotion who traveled with the team for the Packers game. Due to mechanical problems, the team plane was delayed for four hours that Sunday evening, making it a late night for all aboard, including the Lottery winners. The 40-year-old still worked his 12-hour shift the next day as a sales manager at a car dealership. On his way home from work that night, the Elkridge man purchased four of the $10 Maximum Money scratch-offs from Troy Farms Liquors.

“I started scratching the tickets while my wife was making dinner,” the lucky player told Lottery officials. “The $100,000 winner was on the very first ticket I scratched. I told my wife, and she just laughed, thinking I was joking.”

Once he showed the ticket to his wife, she finally believed that it was true. Although excited about the win, Joshua said he was so tired from the trip and working all day that he went to sleep after dinner.

“I’ve checked that ticket so many times since then,” he said with a big smile. “Once before, I made the mistake where I thought I had a big winner, but I read it wrong. I wanted to make sure that hadn’t happened again.”

The Howard County resident, who already planned to buy a boat, is thrilled he can now pay cash using his $100,000 prize. Joshua’s unsure what he’ll do with the rest of the money.

Troy Farms Liquors wins, too! The store located at 6161 Meadowridge Road in Elkridge earns a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling the top-prize winning ticket. The Maximum Money game still has four $100,000 top prizes remaining, 13 $10,000 prizes and thousands of others ranging from $10 to $1,000.
