Claims top prize on $ scratch-off
A woman in Cecil County is seeing plenty of dollar signs, thanks to her recent Maryland Lottery scratch-off purchase. The Elkton woman won $50,000 playing the $ scratch-off and claimed her biggest Lottery payday yet.
The 68-year-old found her winning instant ticket at Wawa #8512 located at 302 Pulaski Highway in Elkton. She buys Lottery tickets there every morning. This particular day, she bought four scratch-offs and headed out the door. The loyal player always scratches off her instant tickets while sitting in her truck.
She couldn’t believe what she was seeing when she revealed the prize on the $ game. The stunned player took the instant ticket to another retailer later that day to have it scanned. The prize check at that store made it clear that she won the game’s top prize.
“I couldn’t believe it,” that happy woman said. She showed her husband the winning scratch-off and he, too, was surprised by her Lottery luck. When asked of her plans for her prize, the player said she would use the windfall to pay off her debts.
Wawa will also benefit from this win. The Cecil County Lottery retailer will receive a $500 bonus for selling a top-prize winning scratch-off in the game.
Many big prizes remain in this $5 game, including four more $50,000 top prizes and seven $5,000 prizes. The game went on sale statewide in August.
