Ellicott City Man’s Lucky Feeling Leads to $100,000 Scratch-off Win

Finds top-prize win on $5 Ravens game

Winning a $100,000 top prize on a Ravens scratch-off was like having a ray of sunshine brighten a dramatic year, according to a happy Howard County player. A lucky feeling led the information technology professional to purchase the $5 scratch-off while he shopped at an Ellicott City grocery store.

The 30-year-old, who said he buys scratch-offs every once in a while, was home with his family when he scratched off the instant ticket and discovered the win. Revealing the $100,000 prize was like a break of sun cutting through a cloudy sky, he said. According to the winner, the good news is a welcome break from what is a dramatic and topsy-turvy year.

The lucky Ellicott City resident plans to use the prize to pay a few bills, including an auto loan, and boost his savings account.

He found Lottery luck waiting at Harris Teeter #382 located at 11075 Resort Road in Ellicott City. For selling a top-prize winning scratch-off, the Howard County business will earn a $1,000 Lottery retailer bonus.

The $5 game, which launched in July with seven $100,000 prizes, now has four top prizes remaining. Players selecting the $2 and $5 Ravens scratch-offs can win instantly or enter nonwinning Ravens scratch-offs into the Lottery’s Ravens second-chance promotion. The promotion features drawings throughout the professional football season, giving players a chance to win cash prizes, Ravens season tickets and football experiences. One lucky player will win season tickets for 20 years.
