Howard County resident wins $30,946 on Trifecta wager
A Howard County woman will be getting a big surprise in a few weeks, courtesy of her husband, who won a $30,946 Racetrax prize. The 49-year-old winner plans to keep the big prize a secret until he can present her with the check from the Maryland Lottery.
When the winner said he planned to give the prize to his wife, the happy man wasn’t kidding! “She can decide what we will do with it,” he said.
The retail worker said he plays Racetrax when out running errands with his wife. “Whenever I go out with her shopping, I’m killing time,” he said.
That was the reason the Ellicott City man bought his lucky Racetrax ticket last week at Rolling Road BP in Woodlawn. The winner placed a Trifecta wager on five races, selecting the 11, 10 and 12 horses, and adding the Bonus multiplier. The lucky man earned a $1 discount on his ticket, too, because of a special Racetrax promotion ongoing through June 9, 2019. Each $6 Racetrax purchase receives a $1 discount! The maximum discount is $5 on a purchase of $30 or more.
The husband didn’t stay to watch the races. He did check the results later on his phone using the Maryland Lottery app. The fifth race delivered his big prize, with the horses crossing the finish line in the exact order of his bet. He never said a word to anyone about his Lottery luck and plans to keep it a secret until he can surprise his wife.
Also a winner is his retailer. Rolling Road BP located at 2202 North Rolling Road in Baltimore County earns a $309.46 bonus from the Lottery for selling a winning Racetrax ticket of $10,000 or more.
