Claims Top Prize on Baseball-themed Ticket
Kari Vannostrand very rarely plays Lottery games. But, last week, on a whim, she decided to purchase three Double Play scratch-offs. While in the store, Kari scratched the tickets, revealing one of the $50,000 top prizes.
The 22-year-old winner has shared the big news with some friends and family, including her mother, Kathie, who accompanied her to Lottery Headquarters. “I’m very happy for Kari,” said her mom. “This could really change her life.”
It may not change her life, but it will change her wardrobe. Along with saving a portion of her winnings, Kari plans to indulge herself and purchase new shoes and a new backpack. The winning ticket was purchased at Valley Exxon, located at 2343 W. Joppa Rd. in Lutherville.
Kari is the third player to win $50,000 with this baseball-themed scratch-off, leaving four top-prizes remaining. The game also features a second-chance contest that partners the Lottery with the Orioles. The contest offers experiential prizes like a trip to see the O’s play at Fenway Park. Players can also be chosen as the “contestant of the game,” and win $1,000 for each double play turned by the Orioles. Entries can be submitted by visiting mdlottery.com/doubleplay.
