Wins $50,000 Taxes-Paid Prize
When Gorman Abbott entered Lottery Headquarters today, his emotions took center stage. Although he knew he had a winning ticket prior to arriving, the emotions set in once reality hit. Gorman claimed a $50,000 taxes-paid top prize on a Bucks Deluxe scratch-off.
On Saturday, Gorman stopped at a local convenience store on his way home from a friend’s house. He picked out a Bucks Deluxe ticket and scratched it at the store. At first he thought it was a $10,000 winner, so he had the owner of the store check the ticket. The owner informed him that the ticket was actually a $50,000 winner.
“I feel like a millionaire,” Gorman, a retired nurse’s assistant, told Lottery Officials. “I still didn’t believe it was real until I came here today.” To make the win even more exciting, the Lottery pays the estimated taxes for the top prize on the Bucks Deluxe scratch-off.
The 66-year-old plans to save most of his winnings, and possibly buy a truck. The winning ticket was purchased at Crisfield Oceanic, located at 55 Richardson Ave. in Crisfield.
