Essex Man Wins $50,000 in a Flash with FAST PLAY Lucky Numbers Game

Claims 5th second-tier prize available in $10 game

This week, a Baltimore County man became the latest in a streak of winners playing the $10 Lucky Numbers game, which is a member of the Maryland Lottery’s new FAST PLAY category. The 57-year-old won a $50,000 prize instantly when he purchased the game on a quick visit to his local Royal Farms.

The lucky winner said he has played the Lucky Numbers game frequently since FAST PLAY went on sale Feb. 10. The game has posted numerous progressive prize wins in the past four weeks including two for $117,626 and $207,611. The state government employee told Lottery officials that when luck found him, he was trying to win the game’s next progressive prize.

He made his financially rewarding visit to Royal Farms #052 located at 2410 E. Joppa Road in Baltimore. After purchasing the game, the loyal player scanned the ticket using the ticket checker on the Lottery’s mobile app and discovered his $50,000 prize.

The Essex resident quickly tucked the ticket away, exited the store and worked a full day at his office. He explained his calm to Lottery officials the following day after claiming his prize.

“I’m calm. That’s just me. If I won $100 million, I’d still go to work the next day,” said the winner.

The player told Lottery officials he plans to save his funds, adding that his Lucky Numbers winnings would also help with the cost of an upcoming summer trip.

Could the next Lucky Numbers prize be yours? The game still has 37 progressive top prizes remaining. The progressive top prize starts at $100,000 and grows with each sale until the next progressive top prize winning ticket is sold. It then resets to $100,000. Lucky Numbers is one of five FAST PLAY games. Also in the lineup are the $1 Piggy Bank Bucks, $2 Cherry Twist, $3 Treasure Chase and $5 Hit $250 games.
