Takes home $19,534.80 prize on Superfecta Box bet
The first time’s the charm for a Fort Washington woman, who won $19,534.80 on a Racetrax Superfecta Box ticket earlier this week. This was the first time the soon-to-be, first-time mom tried her luck at the computer-animated horseracing game.
The winner’s father, who is a longtime Racetrax fan, was showing the 21-year-old how to play the game at F&W Convenience in Fort Washington. She bet on the 4, 6, 8 and 11 horses to finish in first, second, third and fourth place in any order.
“Awhile back, I got these same horses in a quick-pick ticket and, since then, I’ve been playing them regularly,” the winner’s father told Lottery officials. “When my daughter wanted to see how to play, I suggested she use these numbers, too. It definitely worked out.”
The Prince George’s County resident bought the ticket on Aug. 6, left the store and came back later to check to see if it was a winner. She couldn’t believe her luck when the ticket checker showed her the amount she won.
“I left the store and screamed,” she said, grinning from ear to ear. “Talk about beginner’s luck!”
With the birth of her son approaching, the winner her prize money will go towards her bundle of joy.
The lucky retailer, F&W Convenience, is also a winner. The Prince George’s County store at 974 East Swan Creek Road in Fort Washington earns a $195.34 bonus from the Lottery for selling a winning Racetrax ticket worth $10,000 or more. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize.
