Extended-Play Fan Wins Top Prize on Deluxe Crossword Scratch-off

A Baltimore City woman can thank her love of extended-play scratch-off games for her recent good fortune on the Deluxe Crosswordgame. The Maryland Lottery fan won one of its  $50,000 top prizes.

The 62-year-old player purchased the lucky scratch-off while buying a Pick 3 ticket for a friend. She had a $5 bill in her pocket and decided to use it to purchase one of her favorite games. She prefers $5 bingo and crossword instant ticket games simply because they are fun.

“I just enjoy playing them,” she said, smiling. “It gives me something to do.”

The winner made her scratch-off purchase at Grace Grocery in Baltimore and came home to play the game. Sitting in her favorite chair in her living room, she took her time scratching off the two crossword puzzles on her instant ticket. At first, she thought she only matched three black words and three red words. A closer inspection showed she matched four red and four black words, yielding a top-prize win!

“When I saw it was $50,000, I just couldn’t believe it,” said the mother of three and grandmother of seven. The lucky lady tried to enjoy her evening but her nerves kept her looking over the instant ticket again and again. The generous winner said she plans to save some of her prize and spend some to help her family members.

The $5 Deluxe Crossword scratch-off game still has lots of big winners available. There are four more $50,000 top prizes remaining, 10 unclaimed $10,000 prizes and thousands of other prizes ranging from $5 to $1,000 still left in the game.

Our winner found her lucky extended-play scratch-off at Grace Grocery located at 2435 West Lafayette Avenue in Baltimore City. For selling a top-prize winning scratch-off in the game, the retailer will earn a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
