Olney man wins playing $100,000 Extreme Cash game

An Olney father of four has family in mind after winning a $100,000 top prize on a $100,000 Extreme Cash scratch-off. The “Extreme Winner,” as he nicknamed himself for Lottery publicity, was out running errands when Lady Luck showed up with his big prize.

The lucky player stopped last Friday night at Calverton Exxon in Beltsville for a few snacks. Paying with a $50 bill, the Montgomery County man realized he had a lot of change left and decided to try a $30 scratch-off. The 45-year-old chose the $100,000 Extreme Cash instant ticket and played the game in the store.

“I had a matching number right there on the second row,” the big winner told Lottery officials. “And, when I scratched the $100,000 prize underneath, I just could not believe it.”

Still amazed by his Lottery luck, “Extreme Winner” called his wife to tell her what had just happened.

“I was like, ‘Are you serious?’” recalled the player’s wife, who joined him in the Lottery Winner’s Circle. “I was so happy for him.”

“Extreme Winner” then shared the news with some of his family members and friends before making an appointment to claim his prize. The assistant manager of a gas station, “Extreme Winner” told Lottery officials that he plans to spend some of his prize on his children and will save the rest of the fortune.

Also getting an “extreme prize” is Calverton Exxon located at 4040 Powder Mill Road in Beltsville. The Lottery retailer earns a $1,000 bonus for selling a $100,000 top-prize winning instant ticket.

The $100,000 Extreme Cash game is still packed with winning scratch-offs. The game has 24 $100,000 top prizes remaining along with 14 unclaimed $5,000 prizes and more than 350,000 others ranging from $30 to $500.
