Faithful Lottery Player Finally Hits Big

Winner - Faithful Player

This “Faithful Player” from Baltimore celebrates her long-awaited $50,000 Bonus Match 5 win.

The first thought that came to her upon realizing that she’d won $50,000 in Tuesday’s Bonus Match 5 drawing? “Finally!”

A Baltimore woman who bought tickets in the daily game for years reports being fully aware of the odds and of how unlikely it was that she’d get a top-prize win. However, the “Faithful Player” was confident that luck would come her way and it did on Oct. 9.

The retired federal employee used a combination of lucky numbers to fill out her Bonus Match 5 ticket. She’s faithfully played those digits for more than a decade so the 67-year-old recognized them immediately when they appeared during the evening TV news.

“There they were,” she told Lottery officials after claiming her prize. “Just as I’d been waiting for them.”

After planning how the newfound cash will fit into her life, the happy woman rolled over to go to sleep. Eventually, she realized that it wasn’t going to happen. “I was very happy, but also very tired,” she said. “Sleep, though, just would not come. I had too many things running through my mind.”

Among the 50,000 thoughts keeping the lucky lady awake were boosting her savings account as well as buying a new car, completing home repair projects and paying off bills.

Her lucky ticket came from E-Z Convenience at 8104 Loch Raven Boulevard in Towson, which earned a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the top-prize ticket in the game. The $50,000 Baltimore win was the first of two the game produced this week. The second top-prize win came on Oct. 10 in Fort Washington.
