A mother of one who bought a Ravens scratch-off because her adult son follows the team scored a $10,000 win on the $5 Maryland Lottery game.
The married Fallston homemaker plays scratch-offs occasionally when that lucky feeling comes along. “Usually, it doesn’t work out,” she said with a smile. She also plays Mega Millions and Powerball when jackpots get high. This time, she bought her winning ticket on the spur of the moment while shopping at Mountain Road Deli & Spirits in Joppa.
“I thought, ‘Let me try that ticket,’” the 50-year-old said. When she scratched it off in the store located at 2410 Old Mountain Road, she was startled to see an apparent win.
“I said, ‘Oh my goodness!’ I checked twice, again and again,” she said. After showing the ticket to the clerk and confirming her win, she quietly left the store and shared her great news with her husband and son. The happy player kept the ticket safely hidden all weekend until she could claim her prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
She’s not sure yet what she will do with the prize money other than put it in the bank. The Harford County resident is certain, however, that her biggest scratch-off win ever will remain a family secret.
Ravens scratch-off fans can still find plenty of wins left with this popular instant ticket. There is one top prize of $100,000 awaiting discovery at one of Maryland’s more than 4,560 Lottery retailers along with three more $10,000-winning scratch-offs.
