Baltimore woman claims top prize in Nov. 11 drawing
A retired product manager confessed to Maryland Lottery officials that she knew her favorite game – Bonus Match 5 – would eventually give her a $50,000 top-prize win. What she didn’t expect was that the family birthdays she used to pick her winning numbers would bring her an extra $400.
“I’ve always played some combination of these same numbers made up of kids’ and some other family members’ birthdays,” she said. “I’d get four numbers so often that I just knew that I’d eventually get all five on one ticket. I fully expected to win!”
When she checked the Bonus Match 5 results on Nov. 11 using her Maryland Lottery app, the 64-year-old reports that her eyes got very wide. “I recognized them immediately,” she said of the 3, 8, 16, 22 and 27 drawn that night. “I said to myself, ‘Well, there it is.’ ”
Her happiness was visible on the face of the quiet, reserved woman who is the mother of two.
“I’m just so grateful for this,” said the loyal player. “An old school loan and a few other bills will look a lot smaller in a few days.”
Her lucky ticket came to her via the Park Avenue Pharmacy at 1535 Park Avenue in Baltimore. For selling a top-prize ticket in the game, the city retailer earns a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
