Baltimore woman wins $10,000 playing the popular game
A 77-year-old Baltimore woman and her husband like to start their day playing a little Keno. A recent morning found the two at Bottle & Cork Liquors in Towson, enjoying their favorite game, with Lady Luck by their side.
The lucky woman played four tickets on this day. One ticket carried random numbers, one had insignificant numbers that she selected, one ticket had sevens and one carried family birthdays. She and her husband sat down to wait for the numbers to appear on the screen.
“Then I figured I should play the birthdays too, so I put that card in as well,” said the winner. “The birthdays started popping up and I knew I won something.”
The excited woman had placed a six-spot bet with the bonus feature using the numbers 2, 10, 11, 17, 27 and 28. A six-spot bet typically wins $1,000 but the bonus was 10x. That boosted her prize to $10,000! The retiree said she double-checked her ticket on the scanner to confirm the win.
“I saw that message about claiming the prize here and I put that ticket in my pocket and we went home,” she said.
The great-great-grandparents ate breakfast and wasted no time coming to Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim the $10,000 prize. The lucky player said she will pay bills with the winnings and put some aside for a vacation.
Bottle & Cork Liquors will also receive a bonus from the Lottery. For selling a winning Keno ticket of $10,000 or more, this lucky retailer located at 6867 Loch Raven Blvd. will receive a bonus of $100 – equal to 1 percent of the prize.
